i3S is located in Porto and it is one of the largest research institutes operating in the life and health sciences in Portugal. The i3S knowledge transfer office (KTO)works closely with researchers in order to generate value out of the knowledge they produce in their laboratories, for the benefit of society and economy. In a process involving all relevant stakeholders in the health sector, the KTO fills the gap between science and market with the goal of using knowledge to make available cutting-edge products and services that cater to clinical and healthcare needs and improves people’s health.

By associating with competitions and innovation awards promoted by the most diverse entities, the BfK Awards distinguish projects that “are born from knowledge” and companies that stand out most in Research & Development (R&D) activities.
