NeuroQ
The NeuroQ project, from INESC-TEC, was the first winner of the 2nd edition of the i3S-Hovione Capital Health Innovation Award.
Led by researchers João Paulo Cunha and Catarina Maia, the NeuroQ consists of a wearable device for assessing pulse stiffness in support of Deep Brain Stimulation neurosurgical procedures. In addition to the first prize of the competition, the project also won an award from Aescuvest.

HECOLCAP
The HECOLCAP, proposed by i3S researchers, won the second place in the 2nd edition i3S-Hovione Capital Health Innovation Award with an Aescuvest award and two more awards: the BfK - Born from Knowledge “Árvore do Conhecimento” awarded by the ANI/ Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, and also “ Patentree ”company prize.
The HECOLCAP was developed by Susana Sousa and Fernando Jorge Monteiro and proposes to treat chronic bone infections more effectively and efficiently, regenerating the bone while controlling the infection. The device aims to reduce the level of pain, increase the quality of life of patients and allow cost reduction, since the objective is to reduce the number of surgical interventions in the treatment of this disease to just one.

The NBiON project, proposed by Daniela Pereira and Rita Rodrigues, from the University of Minho, was the winner of the prize awarded by the company SRS Advogados at the 2nd edition of the i3S-Hovione Capital Health Innovation Award, in the amount of five thousand euros. The researchers propose to use multifunctional magnetoliposomes for drug delivery in the treatment of cancer.

A new diagnostic test for ovarian cancer based on a plasma marker was the winner of the 1st i3S-Hovione Capital Health Innovation Prize. An international team, consisting of researchers from Swansea University College of Engineering (United Kingdom) and INL (Braga) now has 35,000 euros in funds and services at their disposal, which will accelerate their transition to the market.

At the 1st edition of the i3S-Hovione Capital Health Innovation Award, the company SRS Advogados, through its Life Sciences Department, offered a prize in technical hours of legal support to the AntiBioCoat project, by researchers the i3S Rita Mota and Fabíola Moutinho, which proposes a new type of anti-adhesive coating for catheters.

The Delox project, from the University of Lisbon, which presented itself with a new process of vaporization of hydrogen peroxide for sterilization in a hospital environment, won two 1st edition Health Innovation Award awards: one of Patentree , which offers the writing of a national patent, and of Impact Science (United Kingdom) which consists of designing an intellectual property management strategy for this technology.

The Ministry of Science and Technology and Higher Education (MCTES), through the National Innovation Agency (ANI), awarded in the 1st edition Health Innovation Award the Born from Knowledge Award, which translates into mentoring support, to the MagCyte project ( IST and INESC). This project presents a new approach for the detection of cancer cells.

The 1st edition Health Innovation Award BlueClinical prize, which offers technical hours in consultancy on regulatory matters, was awarded to a bionic device for dental application that detects and informs about pressure during chewing, called SmartTooth (IPO-Porto, FEUP and GadgetWhisper).
